After almost a week, it's about time I sit down and write my story. Can't even believe it's almost a week already...
On monday, me and Kantharion left for our big journey. We went by car because, let's be honest, that's just the most fun. You can do whatever you want, be as crazy as you like, just make sure that the driver of the two pays attention to the road and doesn't crash her car into someone else's.
We had so much fun underway. Laughed till our sides hurt, talked till our mouths went dry and sang along to songs until... well, until we arrived really (and got some very funny reactions to our singalongs from passer-by's :-) )
At around dinnertime we arrived at our destination; my brother and his wife. My brother moved to Switzerland about 8 years ago, which was one of the reasons why we thought of going to the Zurich show before any other show (because Amsterdam wasn't announced until really late). It was a great excuse to visit my brother and his wife whom I had not seen for a few months already. We had a great evening and a fantastic meal. It was so great to see them again.
The next morning was weird; we finally made it to the day we had been thinking about for 2 months now yet it didn't feel like it yet. It felt like we still had 2 more months to wait, we couldn't really believe that day finally came.
We took our time getting ready, we weren't in any rush because of getting in lines or anything. I couldn't believe it when both my make-up AND my hair looked like it was supposed to look (usually in situations like these at least one of the two decides to play with me and not work out at all).

(Make-up done, but pre-glitterspray and just before we put our outfits on)
At around 2 we left for Zurich. Nerves were growing, this was really happening now. It didn't take too long to get to Zurich, my brother actually lives pretty close to it. We had a blast walking around the city center wearing our outfits and all glittered up. You sure get a lot of looks from people, haha.
We decided to just wait at the bar of the venue and have some late lunch. There wasn't really anything more we could do anyway. To celebrate the whole trip and our friendship (which is pretty special, I can tell you :-) ), we toasted with champagne.
(A toast to glitter, to friendship and to the adventure still to come (just noticed this was still pre-glitterspray))
At the bar we met the first fans already. That's the great thing about being an Adam-fan, you recognize other fans pretty easily, even if they are not wearing fan-shirts. Glitter and glam galore give one away without even trying to ;-). I loved meeting everyone, everyone was fantastic.
For the m&g we all gathered at the hotellobby attached to the venue. I met so many incredible people there, including Rolando (if you don't know who Rolando is, here is a picture of us together ;-))
(left to right; Kantharion, Rolando, me)
'Brother of' and organizer of the m&g Neil Lambert, came out to us at around 5.30 pm to let us know when and where to meet so at 6pm we stood outside, waiting for Neil or anyone else to pick us up. 6pm came and went and finally at 6.15 we were picked up and brought inside the venue. The m&g was to take place in the lobby, but they needed to hurry because the venue would not wait any longer than past 7pm sharp to open their doors. Why it took both Neil and Adam so long to come out anyway no one will ever know (Adam is a diva, we all know that, but Neil...???)
Eventually Adam finally came out, looking fabulous yet very tired. I actually really felt sorry for him to be out with all of us. It's close to the end of the tour and it is clearly wearing him out right now.
We decided to be at the end of the row because of our costumes (which I will finally show in a next blog, promise), which meant we had a little while to watch him work. I love that. He clearly does love his work and meeting the people who got him to where he is today. He greets everyone like a close friend he has not seen for quite some time and takes interest in whatever he or she has to show him, no matter what it is. I could have stood there for hours, just watching him 'do his thing', couldn't have cared if my turn never came at all even.
But our turn did come eventually. Unfortunately, it was already 7pm and the venue really did not wait one more second with opening their doors. This meant that our m&g was rushed. Neil was really nervous, told Adam time and time again that he needed to hurry, but Adam didn't care. Pictures needed to be taken and stuff was going to be signed.
Adam really is a sweetheart. He greeted me with a big hug, as if we were lifelong friends ‘how ARE you?’
Even though there was hardly time because of people already coming in, he did take time to give us not only our individual picture, but one with the 3 of us as well, which was my big hope.
My individual picture with him was fantastic, he was so warm and soft and oh so cuddly, just like a cuddly teddybear ;-)
He told us he loved our outfits and ‘you two look gorgeous, really’. He told Kantharion that he loved her coat and the back with her initial and eye of horus was ‘amazing’ and her walking cane was fantastic.
I brought a drawing that the costumedesigner drew for Adam to sign and told me ‘that is fantastic, I love this’ and signed it quickly but perfectly.
Because there was no time for us anymore, Kantharion had to rush her gifts, but even then he took time to look at what she gave, even if she didn’t see that happening (don’t worry sweetie, I did see it :-) )
And that was when it was time to litterally RUN. Fans were running past us and if we wanted to be at the front we needed to get out of there. Adam was rushing just as much, which was funny to see, they were all hurrying to get everything and get out of there too.
We managed to get the first and second row (I was actually between 1st and 2nd; just not 1st, but not really 2nd either).
The opening act was.... well.... Let's just say; 'very German' and leave it at that. I'm not a big fan of German languaged music (except for Rammstein, they ROCK!!!), so the opening act took far too long for me.
But finally, it was time for the lights to go out a second time, the band came on and I saw a feathery hat and the first few notes of Voodoo were played. I couldn't believe it, I was there a second time. Adam still looked extremely tired, but he was still enjoying the show. I even thought the slower songs were sung more beautifully (Aftermath had me crying this time, instead of 'just a lump in my throat' like it did in Amsterdam). Best moment of the night was having 'Mad World' as an encore, which he had not done in over 2 months! and which he sang right in front of us.
But after Mad World, it was all over... The Glam Nation Tour ended right there and then for me. but It could not have been more perfect.
We decided to wait around backstage and try to meet the rest of the band as well. We had gotten to know them through the tour and the fans over the past months and they became as much part of the entire experience as Adam had been. Personally I wanted to meet the drummer most because of my son. He wants to be a drummer as well, so how cool would it be to meet one of the best drummers ever.
In the end we met the entire band and dancers, except for the 2 male dancers. Everyone was fantastic, all were so nice and the drummer Isaac turned out to be the sweetest. We talked for quite a while and even took OUR picture, haha.
Here are my pictures with the drummer and one of the female dancers. If you want to see the others as well, just let me know and I will post them gladly ;-) (if you're wondering why I did not post my pic with the infamous Tommy; he wasn't really 'into it' that night, so in the pic he doesn't look like his usual self)
(Isaac Carpenter, the drummer)
(Brooke Wendle, dance choreographer and just plain HOT ;-) )
The next day, it was already time for us to head back to Holland. We couldn't believe that the day we had been waiting for for so long went by so fast. We still had an amazing trip back though. We talked even more than on the trip TO Switzerland, maybe sang a little less, but had an amazing time anyway. If it is even possible, we became even closer friends on that journey home.
We both decided that with a next tour (which will probably take about 1.5 yrs for Europe!) we are doing this all over again. If we are going to do a whole new outfit, we don't know, but a meet and greet? Definitely! If only for just the fun we have had over the last few months and because of everyone we have met through it (can't remember all of your names, but it was amazing meeting you anyway :-) ).
Now, without further ado... here they are! My pictures with Adam!! The first one is our 'group picture', second is 'just' me & Adam.
